Tuesday Turnaround: Beauty on a Budget

Tuesday Turnaround: From turning something old into something "new" to turning your thinking around, you can save yourself some $money$ either way.

We ALL want to look nice, right? But with the rising cost of EVERYTHING, it isn't cheap to get those pampering services that many people have become so accustom to or even just want to treat ourselves to once in a while.

Well, have you ever thought about getting those services at a cosmetology school? If you think about it, you are probably going to get a better service because the teachers are hovering over the students and making sure they are doing everything correctly. (Just be sure to allow more time than you are used to spending at a salon because of this.)
There are several schools in the area that offer such services as:
  • hair cut/style/color
  • nails
  • massages
  • facials
  • teeth cleaning
  • and MORE!!
The following is a list of a few schools that offer some of these services to the public:
  • TJC Dental Hygeine School - teeth cleaning
  • Star College - Hair, Nails, Facials, Beauty Massage
  • Stone School of Massage

Thank you for my AWESOME friend Rachael who gave me this idea. ;o)

CVS Cash Card List (2/26/12 - 3/3/12)

The Current CVS Deal:

FREE $10 CVSCash Card when you spend $30 or more on select products with your CVS Extra Care Card. (Look for the CVSCash Card symbol [pictured above] on specially marked items in the circular and in store. The CVSCash Card is not actual cash and will pay out in the form of a gift card.)

Limit 5. While supplies last. No rainchecks. See stores for FULL details.

***The details state: "While supplies last." But to get around that, you can simply have the $10 put onto a regular Gift Card. I have been using the same actual card for months now and they loaded it with my $10.***

The $30 purchase is BEFORE the coupons, so you can really save a bundle when you factor in the $10 CVSCash card. One trick I have figured out is that you don't have to be over or even exactly at the $30 mark on reward deals at CVS, so if an item is $9.99 the 1c difference to the next dollar amount does not matter toward your total. (I always try to get it less than 50c from the $30 mark, but some people have reported a wider margin.)

The items that are qualifying purchases for this week are (prices listed are BEFORE Qs):
  • Scott Bathroom tissue 12-18pk = $7.49
  • Scott Choose-A-Size Mega rolls 6pk = $5.49
  • ALL L'Oreal Skin Care = BOGO50%
  • ALL Palmer's Skin Care = BOGO50%
  • Combos 7oz = 2/$3
  • Jack Link's Jumbo Bag beef jerky 6.2oz = $6.99
  • Hair Care Pert Plus 13.5oz and 25.4oz, Infusium23 shampoo or conditioner 16oz = BOGO
  • Household Cleaner Scrubbing Bubbles 16oz, Shout, Fantastik, or Windex 22-32oz = $3
  • Cottonelle 4pk = $2.99
++ These items show that they will award a $10Cash Card for the purchase of this item alone.
* These items were marked in the circular as having current Qs out in this week's Sunday paper.

This week the "Magic Coupon Machine" is printing: $5off ANY $25 fragrance purchase.
Be sure to maximize your savings for the BEST deal by using Qs on as many items in your purchase as you can on these CVSCash Card deals!! ;o)

If you liked this post, please check out the current weekly CVS post: HERE.
Click HERE for my list of Common Coupon Abbreviations.

If I missed an item in the ad or there are other unadvertised items on the gift card list that are not listed here, I do apologize for human error. Also, I can not be held responsible if the store does not allow a deal for any reason.

When Does a Redhead NEED 2 Boxes of Brunette Hair Dye?

The answer to that question is: When they pay for the entire rest of her transaction. ;o)

I went to CVS yesterday with a couple of printable coupons for the Carefree that were going to expire that day. I had also obtained a couple of CVSQ's from the Magic Coupon Machine. One was for 2 Carefree and the other was for any 2 Hair Dye. Now, I did not need brunette hair dye, but it was on clearance and I had a couple of Q's.

Below is a picture of my purchases and then a rundown of how the coupons paid for my entire purchase:

Purchase Prices:
3 Eclipse Gum @ 3/$3 (ECB: $2) = $3
2 Carefree @ $1.67 each = $3.34
2 pks straws @ $1 each = $2
2 Brunette Hair Dye @ $2.24 each on clearance = $4.48

Subtotal = $12.82

Coupons:
2:50cprintableQs (Carefree)
$1.50/2CVSQ (Carefree)
$5/2Q (Clairol) (reduced to $4.48)
$3CVSQ (with the purchase of any 2 Hair Dyes)
$3ECB (from Nivea last week) (reduced to $2.84)

Total = $0

I only "lost" 68c from reducing the 2 Qs.

Not bad!!

Do you have a sweetheart, but not much cash for Valentine's Day?

  • Wait on him/her all night
There are LOTS of ideas, just be creative. ;o)

Tuesday Turnaround: Cream Cheese Recipes

Tuesday Turnaround: From turning something old into something "new" to turning your thinking around, you can save yourself some $money$ either way.

Have you ever cooked with cream cheese?

Do you cook entrees or desserts?

That's the GREAT thing about cream cheese; it's versatile enough to be used in both entrees and desserts. You can use it with things like:
  • meats
  • breads (great on a toasted bagel)
  • creamy veggie dishes
  • dips
  • dressings
  • casseroles
  • chocolate
  • and much MORE!
Pick your FAVORITE recipe that includes cream cheese and have it ready for next week. We will have a "sharing" page for them on next week's Tuesday Turnaround. :oP Mmmmm!

Here are a couple of AWESOME dessert recipes that I just learned and a link to the Philly website where they have video instructions with printable recipes:

PHILADELPHIA Marble Brownies
(From the Philly website: click HERE to print this recipe and to see a step-by-step instructional video)

What You Need:
  • 1 pkg. (19 to 21 oz.) brownie mix (and ingredients requested on box) - 13x9-inch pan size
  • 1 pkg. (8 oz.) PHILADELPHIA Cream Cheese, softened
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla
Make It
  1. HEAT: oven to 350ºF.
  2. PREPARE: brownie batter as directed on package; spread into greased 13x9-inch pan.
  3. BEAT: cream cheese with mixer until creamy. Add sugar, egg and vanilla; mix well. Drop by tablespoonfuls over brownie batter; swirl with knife.
  4. BAKE: 35 to 40 min. or until cream cheese mixture is lightly browned. Cool completely before cutting to serve. Keep refrigerated.
Note: For best results, do not use brownie mix with a syrup pouch.

CVS Cash Card List (2/5/12 - 2/11/12)

  • Scott Choose-A-Size paper towels 8pk = $7.50
  • Cottonelle or Scott bathroom tissue 20pk = $14
  • Mars Chocolate or Hershey's MnM's 7-12.6oz or Hershey's Valentine assorted 8-8.5oz = 2/$5
  • Ozarka Natural spring water 16.9oz bottles 24pk = $3.49
  • Ajax Dish liquid 16oz = 89c
  • Post Honey Bunches, Cocoa or Fruity Pebbles cereal 11-17oz = 2/$5
  • Nabisco: Cookies or Crackers 3.8-8oz = 4/$5
  • Cottonelle Refill  Moist wipes 84ct = $4
  • Kleenex Tissues 3pk = $3
  • PerfectaWash by Clearasil = $14.99
  • DermaSilk Skin Perfect 4oz or Flawless 1oz (excludes trial sz) = $29.99++
  • DermaSilk 5-min face lift 1oz or 90-sec eye lift 0.25oz (excludes trial sz) = $34.99++ *
++ These items show that they will award a $10Cash Card for the purchase of this item alone.
* These items were marked in the circular as having current Qs out in this week's Sunday paper.

This week the "Magic Coupon Machine" is printing: $5off ANY $25 fragrance purchase.
Be sure to maximize your savings for the BEST deal by using Qs on as many items in your purchase as you can on these CVSCash Card deals!! ;o)

If I missed an item in the ad or there are other unadvertised items on the gift card list that are not listed here, I do apologize for human error. Also, I can not be held responsible if the store does not allow a deal for any reason.
